Diane Cook, of Bluffton, SC has been elected to serve the NCASC as President for 2005-2006. Cook was elected on April 4, 2005 during the NCASC State Convention held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The National Cosmetology Association took an opportunity in Myrtle Beach to also recognize the Look Good Feel Better volunteers in South Carolina. With help from the American Cancer Society NCASC recognized volunteers throughout South Carolina at a special ceremony held Sunday April 3, 2005 just prior to the State Awards Banquet. At the 2005 State Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 3, 2005 more outstanding Association members were also recognized. The evening started off with a grab-bag contest in which the participants had to create a style on a mannequin using only the contents of the brown bag they selected. The winner of the grab bag competition was Jennifer Hinchey of Hilton Head, SC. The evening continued with the Association recognizing the Board of Directors and Affiliate Presidents for their service over the past year.
The Affiliate President of the Year Award is based on an affiliate President's accomplishments in membership, certifications, attendance at meetings, report submission and other criteria. The 2005 Affiliate President of the Year recipient is Louise Frick, Affiliate #9 in Columbia, SC.
The David E. Bagwell Award (Outstanding Cosmetologist of the Year) recognizes cosmetologists on what they have done to upgrade and promote the cosmetology profession by activities supported on the state and local level. The 2005 David E. Bagwell Award recipient is Catherine Stabler of Swansea, SC.
The Jack & Betty Humphries Community Leadership Award is based on personal involvement in church, political and social, civic and educational activities, and for creating an outstanding cosmetology image at all times. The 2005 Jack & Betty Humphries Community Leadership Award recipient is Angelo Stellato of Columbia, SC.
The Outstanding Educator of the Year Award gives consideration to nominees based on their accomplishments dealing with education on any level such as for NCASC, the cosmetology industry and any education dealing with cosmetology related events. The 2005 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award recipient is Alma Owens of Georgetown, SC.
There were two members inducted into the NCASC Hall of Fame in 2005 - Vilma Cobb and Betty Bagwell. Two more members were recognized for 15 years of service to the Fashion and Education Committee: Echo Morris and Inez Wolf.
There were also some new awards given out to members of the Fashion and Education Committee in 2005. The Golden Brush Awards are voted on by the FEC members to recognize their peers for outstanding service. The Golden Brush Award winners for 2005 are:
